Do you remember watching those excruciatingly awful infomercials for kitchen gadgets on analogue satellite channels at 2am when you’ve got home from a top night out and you’re on a bit of a come down?
‘For just £499.99 you get the Spiralise Max 2000 and we’ll throw in the dicer, the chopper, the knife set, the protective thing, the widget and the flibble, all completely FREE!’
‘BUT WAIT! That’s not all! As a special offer to the first thirty million customers, we’ll throw in monogrammed tea towels, an egg timer and the Spiralise Max 1000 because we’ve got loads left in the warehouse!’
The same goes for IP Expo Europe.
We registered once and we got access to Digital Transformation EXPO, Cyber Security X, Developer X, AI-Analytics X, Internet of Things X and Blockchain X!
Cheap at half the price! Or should it be cheap at double the price? No-one seems to be sure.
Anyway, why are we going to the event billed as Europe’s #1 IT event?
Haven’t You Got Work To Do?
Actually, this is work. As you will undoubtedly be aware, we are passionate about cyber-security and we’ve blogged about it over the last few months.
We’ll be meeting our clients and partners who are at the forefront of the war against spyware, malware and the general nastiness of people thinking they’re smarter than tech – ESET, Mimecast and ZoneFox as well Distology’s portfolio including Okta, Meta Networks and PortNox –to catch up with them and look at the project roadmap for 2019 so we can forward plan the sound advice and business-critical solutions we can offer our clients.
We’ll get a good steer on upcoming trends, new tech rollouts and the associated PR splash and we’ll have an opportunity to listen to some of the industry’s leading speakers, tech experts, journalists, writers and senior corporate executives talking about what’s happening (and what’s about to happen) in the lightning-fast tech and digital spaces.
If you’ve got some free time, drop us an email and we’ll find some time to get together to talk about what we can do for you.
There’s More Than Just Free Pens
There are over 300 exhibitors and 300+ free-to-attend seminars and in their own words, ‘the event showcases brand new exclusive content and senior level insights from across the industry, as well as unveiling the latest developments in IT.’
For plenty of IT managers, these types of events are all about boozy lunches and free crap people give away to entice customers to sample their wares, and while you can never have too many branded pens, notepads, squishy keyboards and fidget spinners, they are an important part of the digital calendar, especially with tech moving so quickly.
Just before we go, here’s a free top tip we learned the hard way – every stand you visit, even if you just need a sugar hit and you’re reaching for a branded pack of Haribo will want to scan your badge. When you get scanned, your details get shared with the vendors of that booth. If you’ve got a fetish for unsolicited follow-up emails by the bucketload that’s your business but our advice to you is to be select about who scans you and who doesn’t…
It’s all happening at Excel London on Wednesday and Thursday and if you register before 7pm on Tuesday evening it’s free. After that it’s £35.
A damn sight cheaper than the Spiralise Max 2000.
